About

The Sustainability Living Learning Community (LLC) unites students from all majors and backgrounds to introduce students to campus sustainability programs, exciting opportunities to get started on environmental leadership and how to live a more sustainable lifestyle now and in the future. Open to students who want to explore sustainability topics, this year-long program examines the effects of personal and social activities on the environment, studies the local ecosystems around the university, and focuses on creating on-campus initiatives to enrich and enhance UT Austin. 
 
During a year in the Sustainability LLC students will be introduced to sustainability programs and resources on the 40 Acres and Beyond. A year's worth of programming includes two to three sustainability events each month co-hosted by the Office of Sustainability and University Housing and Dining Sustainability.

Housing and Room Assignments

The Sustainability LLC is located in Jester East. Students will be assigned to double rooms with a community bathroom and will be paired with another member of the LLC as their roommate. You may request a specific roommate only if that person has also applied to the LLC. Please note that once room assignments are finalized, room changes within the LLC will not be possible. If you require accommodations due to a disability, please first apply through the Disability & Access (D&A) office and inform us of your request.

Application Timeline & Communication

Applications open February 2025 and are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of May 16. If accepted, you must confirm your participation in the LLC by May 21. If we do not receive a confirmation email from you by this date, your spot will be relinquished. The final Sustainability LLC roster will be submitted on May 23.
