This session will address some of the successes and struggles of modifying environmental curriculum to address social justice. The Environmental Justice Collective of the University of Texas at Austin's Campus Environmental Center will present the various initiatives we have undertaken. We will cover our recommended courses list that highlights classes inclusive of social justice and marginalized communities, our survey to gather student input on UT's curriculum and the legislation we worked on to increase the presence of social justice in our curriculum. We will also cover some of the reasons why a social justice education benefits students regardless of the discipline they are studying. This will be an opportunity for other students, faculty and staff to reflect on their initiatives with curriculum and for us all to learn from each other.
Presenter: Srikari Punyamurtula (UT Environmental Justice Collective Co-Lead of the Campus Environmental Center)
