STARS Dashboard

About STARS

STARS, or the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, is "a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance." It is a program of AASHE, or the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

The University of Texas at Austin has been tracking progress of sustainability efforts or progress towards a more sustainable campus through the STARS report since 2011. Reports are scored and given a ranking: Participant, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The University of Texas at Austin achieved a Gold ranking for the first time in 2020 and has remained at Gold in following reports. Full methodologies and reasonings behind credit calculations can be found in the STARS Technical Manual.

To create the report, data is gathered from relevant campus units and our campus partners. For our 2024 submission, credits were reviewed for SB17 compliance

About the Dashboard

The following dashboard is based on the University of Texas at Austin's STARS reports from 2020-2024. STARS reports are valid for three years, but UT Austin reports every other year.

STARS constantly goes through updates to its framework to ensure standards are up-to-date with current data and progress is measured in the best possible way. The reports in this dashboard were submitted under version 2.2.

Note: This dashboard must be viewed on a computer.
