UT Farm Stand's Jester Garden is now home to 20 new Lettuce Grow towers that have already produced 200 pounds of fresh greens for University Housing and Dining meals.
After receiving a Green Fund grant, University Housing and Dining's sustainability team has collected more than 200 pounds of used batteries since March.
This year, the Sustainable Campus Index, an annual publication by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), highlighted UT Austin’s Good Food Purchasing Program as an innovative and high-impact initiative.
Announcing the President's Student Employee of the Year Award (2019): UT Farm Stand's Katie Strain wins top honors with two additional sustainability finalists: Anthony Rivera of Campus Environmental Center and Khristián Méndez Aguirre of Resource Recovery and Office of Sustainability.
UT Farm Stand's Katie Strain was named Student Empolyee of the Year for 2018-19, followed up by Anthony Rivera (director of the Campus Environmental Center) and Khristián Méndez Aguirre (graphic deisgner for Resource Recovery).
