Earth Month Transportation Challenge!

Bike sharing on campus

April is Earth Month, and UT Parking and Transportation is hosting a UT B-Cycle Miles Challenge!

The UT B-Cycle Miles Challenge goal is to hit 200,000 miles within the next three weeks. All you need to do is check out a bike and ride from April 9th to 30th.

Since the UT B-Cycle initiative launched on Valentine's Day 2018, enormous interest in the program has been generated.  Bike sharing on campus exceeded the expectations of the B-Cycle managers according to a recent news report and a press release from B-Cycle. Over the last 45 days, 15% of the student body joined the program, and the University of Texas B-Cycle stations--eleven in number-- generated over 121,400 miles towards active transportation and reducing carbon emissions on the 40 acres.

To participate in the UT B-Cycle Miles Challenge, rent, ride, and return a bike with a no-cost UT membership. All currently enrolled students are eligible for a no-cost membership. Currently enrolled UT Austin students, faculty, & staff can participate in the challenge once signed up for the B-cycle membership by:

  • Downloading the iOS or Android app or visiting UTBikeShare.com
  • Students select the "UT Student Membership" option
  • Faculty & Staff may redeem a UT Austin discount by using promotional code UTSTAFF and registering with their university-issued e-mail address.
